11. My Prediction
I predict that Justin Amash will be re-elected due to the fact
that the seat has been traditionally Republican. In
addition, being an incumbent also gives Amash a huge
advantage as he’s had more time to engage with his voters.
Also, Amash’s campaign is more efficient and
organized, utilizing Facebook, Social Media, and community
events to reach out to voters. In a time when the economy has
not recovered to its full potential, Amash’s policies of cutting
down spending and boosting the economy are more
appealing than his opponent’s policies. For these reasons, I
feel that Amash should be the winning candidate in this
election.
12. Election Results
• Justin Amash was re-elected with 58% of the vote, while
Democratic opponent Steve Pestka only garnered 39%
of the vote.
• The 3rd district is a traditionally safe district for the
Republicans, but after redistricting that added more
liberal neighborhoods, the seat became disputed.
• Amash and Pestka engaged in fierce TV ad campaigns
in the last week before the election.
• However, Amash’s main campaign strategy is direct
contact with voters, attending rallies and other events.
• In addition, Amash maintains a Facebook page that is
updated with all of his votes and information.
