2. BUFFABLE
FLOOR FINISH
A term used to describe any solvent or
water based finish requiring mechanical
action to improve gloss and/or general
appearance.

3. CARNAUBA
A hard wax obtained from the leaves
of the Carnauba palm tree. This wax is
emulsifiable and yields a glossy, durable,
buffable film when properly formulated
in aqueous floor waxes. Carnauba has
generally been replaced in floor finishes by
synthetic polymeric waxes, which are more
durable and allow for more flexibility in
formulation.

4. GLOSS 1
A combination of visual perceptions which
promote the appearance of wetness.
Part 1
Hue – amount of bluish coloration promoting
the perception of depth seen in clear films.

7. HIGH SOLIDS
A floor polish that has a 20% or higher
non-volatile content. Unlike concentrates,
high solids products are generally used
without dilution.
