Welcome To The New Millennium! <ul><li>According to former Secretary of Education Richard Riley: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>“ We are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist, using technologies that haven’t been invented, in order to solve problems that we don’t even know are problems yet.” </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>“The top 10 jobs that will be in demand in 2010 didn’t exists in 2004.” </li></ul></ul>
  3. 3. So, How are We Doing? <ul><li>There are over 1,300 teacher preparation programs in the US that are preparing teachers for schools that many of us think shouldn’t even exist. </li></ul><ul><li>So, what’s the problem??? </li></ul>
  4. 4. Faster Than a Speeding Bullet? <ul><li>Think of life like a highway- </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Industry is racing away in the left lane </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Education is puttering away in the right </li></ul></ul>

(Web 2.0) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Boundless amounts of information & capabilities that free us from the constraints of our Grandmother’s classroom. </li></ul></ul></ul>Faster Than a Speeding Bullet?
