    2. Welcome To The New Millennium!
      • According to former Secretary of Education Richard Riley:
        • “ We are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist, using technologies that haven’t been invented, in order to solve problems that we don’t even know are problems yet.”
        • “The top 10 jobs that will be in demand in 2010 didn’t exists in 2004.”
    3. So, How are We Doing?
      • There are over 1,300 teacher preparation programs in the US that are preparing teachers for schools that many of us think shouldn’t even exist.
      • So, what’s the problem???
    4. Faster Than a Speeding Bullet?
      • Think of life like a highway-
        • Industry is racing away in the left lane
        • Education is puttering away in the right
      • Not our fault-
        • Industry is ultimately driven by capitalism
        • Education is primarily controlled by government
        • We are not always the masters of our own destiny…
          • But we can try to be!
      • How do we try?
        • Expand the borders of our traditional classrooms
        • Internet!!! (Web 2.0)
          • Boundless amounts of information & capabilities that free us from the constraints of our Grandmother’s classroom.

          • If you are excited/ motivated, your students will be too!!
