2. What is MotorHike?
● For motorbikers to find hikers who
join them for a fixed price.
● For travallers and commuters to
find bikers who take them for a
fixed price.
3. How does it work?
● Each city/area has their own local center
("retailer") where operators are handlings
the clients' calls, while the MotorHike
software stores the data and handles
automatable tasks.
● The clients (bikers and hikers) connect to
the local center in either of the following
ways:
○ Phone + SMS (see the "Usual scenario" below)
○ Web interface
○ Smartphone app
4. Usual scenario
1. Biker registration
2. Hiker request
3. Biker notification
4. Final steps
Let's see an example!
5. 1. Biker registration
Example: A biker calls the local call center
and informs them that he travels each
Monday from place X to place Y leaving
between 7:00 and 8:00 (whenever needed)
and is willing to take a detour of 30 minutes at
most. This information is stored.
7. 2. Hiker request
A prospective hiker calls the local call center
and tells them that he wants to travel this
Monday from place U to place V leaving
between 7:30 and 8:30 (whenever possible).
He is told that he will receive an SMS about
the biker that will take him in 12 hours.
9. 3. Bikers notification
1. All potential bikers are notified in SMS.
2. The quickest biker that takes the ride
sends a premium-rate SMS to the center.
3. The center sends SMS messages to all other
bikers that the trip offer is no longer valid.
4. The center sends an SMS message to the
hiker with the phone number of the
quickest biker.
15. Express query
● Can be used when the hiker does not want
to wait 12 hours.
● The hiker calls the center via its premium-
rated phone number.
● He will instantly get the phone numbers of
all potential bikers either on the phone or
in SMS.
● If no biker is available, the premium-rate is
refunded.
16. Web interface and smartphone apps
● Web interface and smartphone apps can be
used instead of a phone calls by bikers to
specify their available trips and hikers to
request a ride.
● The "express" feature is available for hikers
after sending a premium-rated SMS. (One
SMS = one express query. If the query
yielded no bikers, the query possibility will
remain on the hiker's account.)
17. FAQ
How much does a ride cost?
Each city/area has its own fixed fare (amount
of money per kilometer), which is the same
for all bikers in that area. The hikers pay after
the kilometers that they travel (so the detour
the biker has to take is paid by the biker). The
amount of traveled kilometers is calculated by
our software based on the starting point and
destination given by the hiker.
