2. • Your adventure begins with cruising Rockingham’s
sheltered bays and islands in search of any of the 180
local dolphins that your crew have come to know as
friends. Before long the first dolphin sighting of the day
is marked by the excited shout of ‘Found them!’
followed by the slowing down of our engines to let the
dolphins know we are keen to play!
An excited buzz takes over the boat as the crew
ensures you’re fully prepared to enter the water. ‘Zip
your wetsuits up, masks and snorkels on and make
your way to the swim deck- it’s time to get wet!’ Sleek,
silvery grey dorsal fins start breaking the surface of
the water within metres of the back of the boat and
the skipper gives the command everyone’s been
waiting for- ‘Go!’
3. • Penguin Island Ferry
A 5 minute ferry ride is all it takes to meet
the world's smallest penguins! Visit the
Discovery Centre to see the penguin
feeding (daily at 10.30am, 12.30pm &
2.30pm) or spend your day exploring
spectacular bays & beaches perfect for
swimming and snorkelling. Go fishing,
surfing, enjoy a picnic or just soak up the
relaxed island atmosphere of this A class
nature reserve.
4. Paddling a sea kayak is a unique and
wonderful way to explore Penguin &
Seal Islands and get a close up,
water level view of the local wildlife.
Our sea kayak tours are operated by
qualified instructors who know the
marine park and are passionate
about sharing their local knowledge.
5. • Launched Dec 2007 you can’t mistake the ‘Penguin
Express’- just look for the two giant penguins on
the sides! The vessel represents a major
improvement on the old ferry ‘MV Penguin Island’
which when retired last year was believed to be the
oldest running ferry in Western Australia.
• The ‘Penguin Express’ comfortably carries 75
passengers and 2 crew. It features sliding glass
windows all round so guests can stay warm and
comfortable regardless of the weather. The whisper
quiet 4 stroke 50 hp engines get you to the island in
approximately 6 minutes, so with departures
leaving hourly from 9am- 3pm daily getting to
Penguin Island is easy and more enjoyable than
ever!
