Coonskin caps, Pez dispensers, spud guns, and bubble gum cigars were popular fads of the 1950s. Pez dispensers developed a new pocket-sized design that became their trademark. Spud guns were devices that shot potatoes like pistols. Bubble gum cigars mimicked the shape of cigars. Saddle shoes and ballet flats were common shoe styles, while hula hoops sold over 25 million units in just two months at the peak of their popularity in the late 1950s. Throwing frisbees was also a popular pastime during this decade.
