2. Story telling
“I love to tell stories, in my photography I want to
create a fantasy, in documentary you are reporting on
the truth but in my work I want to create an unreality
that inspires the viewer” -Tim Walker
Create a body of work that tells a story. The work should show
clear reference to the Photography of Tim Walker and Miles
Aldridge. Below are the lyrics to a song that you could use as a
starting point for the work. The final product can take the form of
stills or video but must tell a created story. Make sure to pay
attention to all the different parts of your shoot and like Aldrige
create a series of storey boards before you start remember the
word pre visualisation
3. A Journey
To me, photography is an art of observation. Its about finding
something interesting in an ordinary place…I’ve found it has little
to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way
you see them.” Elliot Erwitt
The summer is made up of movement and transition, as photographers
you are in a position to see the world around you and capture reality as
it unfolds. In this task you are to document a journey that you will make
over the summer this could range from an overseas holiday a trip to a
festival or a simple foray around the capital. Use your camera as a
window to the world and capture the journey as it unfolds before you.
4. Exhibition Leaflet Task
During the Summer holiday you are required to create a
hypothetical exhibition. Imagine you have access to any work,
space and money is no object.
Practical Tasks
You are a curator of a modern forward thinking photography
gallery based in central London. Your task is to put together a
virtual exhibition. You can either choose to look at one specific
photographers work or take a theme or title and put together an
exhibition based around it.
1) Start the project with a brainstorm based around
photographers, titles, and themes.
Once you have done this you will them start to narrow down the
work which will be exhibited in the exhibition.
Each picture that you choose must have full analyses of the
image. Also every photographer that you look at must be written
about in your own words.
5. Exhibition Leaflet Task
• Step 1:
Brainstorm all of your photographers to determine future practical and research developments.
• Step 2:
Define a theme for the exhibition- use your brainstorm and the photographers in your photographic hero
presentations to help.
• Step 3:
Select Photographers linked to your theme. Choose more than you will probably need so that you can
select the most appropriate later. Present these on your weebly- give your reasons behind all of your
choices.
• Step 4:
Select several works for each photographer. Include titles, dates and our reasons once again.
• Step 5:
Choose at least three separate venues- known galleries, non-gallery spaces, exterior spaces etc.
• Step 6:
Whilst visiting exhibitions collect leaflets. Discuss these on your weebly paying particular attention to
content, layout and general information. Create a list of negative and positive points.
• Step 7:
Write a proposal that outlines the content of your exhibition. Try to phrase it in a professional way as if you
are pitching it to a potential investor.
• Step 8:
You need to ensure that your leaflet clearly reflects your research. Don't scrimp on text. make sure that all
of your research is in your on your weebly
• Step 9:
Create mock-ups of the exhibition leaflet. At least three different versions.
• Step 10:
Complete final leaflet- it must be word processed.
7. Will you still love me when I’m no longer young and beautiful
I've seen the world
Done it all, had my cake now
Diamonds, brilliant, and
Bel-Air now
Hot summer nights mid-July
When you and I were forever
wild
The crazy days, the city lights
The way you'd play with me like a
child
Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and
beautiful
Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul
I know you will, I know you will
I know that you will
Will you still love me
when I'm no longer beautiful
I've seen the world, lit it up as my stage
now
Channelling angels in, the new age now
Hot summer days, rock and
roll
The way you'd play for me at your show
And all the ways I got to
know
Your pretty face and electric soul
Will you still love me when
I'm no longer young and beautiful
Will you still love me when I got nothing
but my aching soul
I know you will, I know you will
I know that you
will
Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful
Dear lord
when I get to heaven
Please let me bring my man
When he comes tell me that
you'll let me
Father tell me if you can
Oh that grace, oh that
body
Oh that face makes me want to party
He's my sun, he makes shine like
diamonds
Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and
beautiful
Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul
I
know you will, I know you will
I know that you will
Will you still love me
when I'm no longer beautiful
Will you still love me when I'm no longer
beautiful
Will you still love me when I'm not young and beautiful
