2. In my A2 media coursework, as I am creating a music video, the ideal software to use is Adobe Premiere. I
thought this task would be challenging as I never knew how to use this software, but I kept practising by
editing videos and making videos to support my theory side of media.
This image displays my first attempt of editing. After
importing all my footage I shot, I started to align the
footage with the song to ensure that the lip syncing is
matched perfectly. I made labelled layers for each clip so
the workspace on the timeline wouldn’t be mismatched
with random parts of the clip in the timeline.
Rendering was part of the editing
process. It enables for smooth
playback on the timeline.
Each frame has to be rendered in
order to achieve a consistent and
good, smooth quality video.
3. Effects such as warp stabiliser and speed duration was very easy to add. The warp stabiliser was to
ensure that any shaky footage can be smoothed out and ‘stabled’.
The speed of the clip was both reduced and increased in time with the pace of the music, however it
was mainly used in the ballet performance, to give the performance more of a elegant perspective. If
the clip needed to be slow downed, the percentage of the speed could be reduced and if the clip
needed to be faster, the percentage of the speed would increase.
4. After all clips where broken down into parts of the song and the best
ones chosen, I created another layer labelled ‘final’, so that I can put
all the clips that are worthy in the final cut into that later. Also there
are adjustment layers added on top of the ‘final’ layer. These
adjustment layers are a great way to fix up a clip through effects or
filtering.
The most used effects I have used is the ‘three way colour corrector’
and ‘brightness and contrast’. These adjustments were made to
change the colour of the clip ever so slightly or to ensure if the
background was black, I had to change the contrast so that the actor
is standing out. It was difficult to use the three way colour corrector
on the outdoor shoot footage due to the natural light, but slight effect
has been added to give it a perfect finish.
Here is an example of how effective filtering can be. The
slightest change to a clip can be very helpful. Comparing
those two images carefully, the background is more
darker and there is more emphasis on the make up. It is
evidently shown that contrasting has been levelled up
with the brightness adjustments as well.
