Database Application: AutoCamp Inventory System
Description:
The group proposed to create a database of car dealing inventories
which would ease to monitor the car dealing business. Autocamp is a car
dealing business located in Ortigas Avenue, Pasig, Metro Manila. The
database application named Autocamp Inventory System has a purpose of
easing the monitoring of number of cars, tallying and reviewing the sales
details of the business. Moreover, we need to replace or upgrade the
manual process in listing the car dealing inventory into easier methods. It
includes the focus of the system to avoid error data in the inventory.
II. Introduction
A buy and sell business can turn into a very profitable endeavor provided that you do
it well and you go about it in the correct manner. This is very much true especially if you
are considering the idea of how to buy and sell used cars. A person who wants to deal
with this business must be knowledgeable of the different factors to gain maximum
profits. One of those factors involve considering the business site/location wherein you
look for an appropriate space which you can use for displaying and selling the used car,
determining the market demands wherein you identify which car that your potential
customer will like, and last is knowing how to build car inventory.
As technology increases and state-of-the art cars are being produced, people will
always have the need to buy new vehicles; thus also creating the need to disposed of
old ones. Nowadays, consumers realize the importance of investing in lower priced
used cars. With millions of buyers entering the used vehicle market every year, a wealth
of opportunities exists for anyone looking for extra-income, or a new and lucrative full-
time career. The key to making a lot of money in this business is to buy-low and sell
with a mark-up to earn profit.

 Interviewer: Vonna Kristel Araya
 Interviewee: Mr. Richard Alberto
Vonna: A fine and pleasant day to you, Mr. Richard Alberto. I am Vonna Kristel Araya, a
second year Information Technology student from the University of Perpetual Help
System JONELTA Campus. I would just like to ask for a few minutes of your time for an
interview about your business venture. May we proceed to the first question?
Mr. Alberto: A pleasant day to you as well. Okay, let’s proceed.
Vonna: How long have you been in this business industry?
Mr. Alberto: Well, I can’t quite determine the approximate years I’ve been doing this.
Let’s say, around 5-6 years, perhaps.
Vonna: Oh, I see. So I’ve heard that many people are still confused on how car trading
operates. Can you tell me the flow of transaction in this kind of field? How does a “buy
and sell system” works?
Mr. Alberto: Starting off, obviously, you will need some cash to purchase the vehicle.
Finding the vehicle to buy for resale may take some time and effort. The ideal car is one
that is a bargain but has the potential to make you a profit in the future. You need to
consider if you are purchasing a car that somebody else would want to buy. You want to
approach this business with a clear unbiased mind and forget about your personal
preference. Searching for the car can be done by looking in classified ads, magazines,
researching online or by visiting second hand car dealers. When you have found the
vehicle, you need to do a comprehensive assessment of the condition of the car. You
have to fix it, clean it up and then sell for a profit.
Vonna: So the primary key here requires heaps of patience and effort, am I right?
Mr. Alberto: Yes, certainly. Without those, you will never be able to find a good deal.
Vonna: That sounds tough. Next question, what are the skills and abilities needed to
obtain a successful business transaction?
Mr. Alberto: Well, the same type of personal skills that are necessary to successfully
work for someone else are also required to be successful in working by yourself.
Personal skills would involve being conscientious, dedicated, determined and
persistent, in addition to possessing good human relations abilities.
Vonna: Could you give us some advantages and disadvantages of the buy and sell
system?
Mr. Alberto: I’ll start with the disadvantages first so we could have something to look
forward to later.
Vonna: That’s a good idea, sir. Kindly continue.
Mr. Alberto: The main disadvantage of purchasing used cars is that it has an unknown
quantity. Whether the dealer has worked the vehicle to make it attractive for the test
drive, the buyers are still unaware of the repair bills, economical issues, and its reliable
transportation.
Vonna: And how about it’s assets or advantages?
Mr. Alberto: First of all, buying used cars would save you a lot of money over buying
brand new autos, we all know that. Another advantage is that you will receive all the
profits generated by your time and efforts since you are the one running your business.
In my case, I sell mine with an average of 10-15 % interest rate.
Vonna: What is the edge of buying pre-owned unit over buying brand new cars?
Mr. Alberto: Hmm, good question. Let's face it. Brand new cars are exceptional over
buying used cars since value beats cost and due to some other factors but it doesn’t
necessarily mean that second hand cars cannot function well and are unworthy of
buying. First of all, they cost less and makes you financial wise. Obviously, you also
have to check if the car is in good working condition before deciding whether to buy it or
not, even though it is already pre-owned. Don’t rely solely on the cost but consider both
the price and the value. Buying a car whether brand new or used car varies, depending
on a person’s decision. Let’s use real numbers so that we can come up with a more
logical conclusion. Some people opt to buy a brand new car to avoid possible defects
from used cars. Here’s a brief explanation. Let’s say that you are looking at a Toyota
Innova. A brand-new Toyota Innova E Diesel currently costs P992,000 and according to
listings of the same variant on the Internet, pre-owned ones cost between P720,000 and
P770,000.Let’s use the median of P745,000 as our price for a pre-owned unit. From this
perspective, it does make sense to go for a three-year-old unit because it will save you
P247,000. But there are many other issues to be considered. If the pre-owned unit is
assumed to be in a very good working condition and that it should not have been
submerged in any of the floods we have experienced since 2011, and has a good
mechanic and maintenance records, the savings of P247,000 is a good enough reason
to buy a pre-owned unit.
Vonna: I get the picture. Decision making is crucial in every consumer’s part and the
seller’s as well. You’ve really got to be wise in doing business with others and get the
best deal you can find with money tight nowadays.
Mr. Alberto: That is one of the reasons why the percentage of people buying pre-owned
car units escalates with each passing year. They just won’t settle for less for their hard-
earned cash.
Vonna: I agree with you, sir. And now, for the final question, What is the best possible
advice you could recommend for people involved in this industry in transacting and
negotiating with one another?
Mr.Alberto: The best advice I could give is to always remain polite and do not be
aggressive when dealing with others so you could get a substantial discount.
Vonna: That is probably one of the most precise and best tip I’ve heard coming from an
experienced car dealer. So, I guess this is the finale of our discussion. Thank you very
much, Mr. Richard Alberto, for acknowledging and sharing a handful of your time in
order for me to perform this interview. Stay blessed.

Database Application: AutoCamp Inventory System Description: The group proposed to create a database of car dealing inventories which would ease to monitor the car dealing business. Autocamp is a car dealing business located in Ortigas Avenue, Pasig, Metro Manila. The database application named Autocamp Inventory System has a purpose of easing the monitoring of number of cars, tallying and reviewing the sales details of the business. Moreover, we need to replace or upgrade the manual process in listing the car dealing inventory into easier methods. It includes the focus of the system to avoid error data in the inventory.
  • 3. II. Introduction A buy and sell business can turn into a very profitable endeavor provided that you do it well and you go about it in the correct manner. This is very much true especially if you are considering the idea of how to buy and sell used cars. A person who wants to deal with this business must be knowledgeable of the different factors to gain maximum profits. One of those factors involve considering the business site/location wherein you look for an appropriate space which you can use for displaying and selling the used car, determining the market demands wherein you identify which car that your potential customer will like, and last is knowing how to build car inventory. As technology increases and state-of-the art cars are being produced, people will always have the need to buy new vehicles; thus also creating the need to disposed of old ones. Nowadays, consumers realize the importance of investing in lower priced used cars. With millions of buyers entering the used vehicle market every year, a wealth of opportunities exists for anyone looking for extra-income, or a new and lucrative full- time career. The key to making a lot of money in this business is to buy-low and sell with a mark-up to earn profit. III. What are the skills and abilities needed to obtain a successful business transaction? 4. Could you give us some advantages and disadvantages of the buy and sell system? 5. What is the edge of buying pre-owned unit over buying brand new cars? 6. What is the best possible advice you could recommend for people involved in this industry in transacting and negotiating with one another? Transcript of Interview:  Interviewer: Vonna Kristel Araya  Interviewee: Mr. Richard Alberto Vonna: A fine and pleasant day to you, Mr. Richard Alberto. I am Vonna Kristel Araya, a second year Information Technology student from the University of Perpetual Help System JONELTA Campus. I would just like to ask for a few minutes of your time for an interview about your business venture. May we proceed to the first question? Mr. Alberto: A pleasant day to you as well. Okay, let’s proceed. Vonna: How long have you been in this business industry? Mr. Alberto: Well, I can’t quite determine the approximate years I’ve been doing this. Let’s say, around 5-6 years, perhaps. Vonna: Oh, I see. So I’ve heard that many people are still confused on how car trading operates. Can you tell me the flow of transaction in this kind of field? How does a “buy and sell system” works? Mr. Alberto: Starting off, obviously, you will need some cash to purchase the vehicle. Finding the vehicle to buy for resale may take some time and effort. The ideal car is one that is a bargain but has the potential to make you a profit in the future. You need to consider if you are purchasing a car that somebody else would want to buy. You want to approach this business with a clear unbiased mind and forget about your personal preference. Searching for the car can be done by looking in classified ads, magazines, researching online or by visiting second hand car dealers. When you have found the vehicle, you need to do a comprehensive assessment of the condition of the car. You have to fix it, clean it up and then sell for a profit.
  • 6. Vonna: So the primary key here requires heaps of patience and effort, am I right? Mr. Alberto: Yes, certainly. Without those, you will never be able to find a good deal. Vonna: That sounds tough. Next question, what are the skills and abilities needed to obtain a successful business transaction? Mr. Alberto: Well, the same type of personal skills that are necessary to successfully work for someone else are also required to be successful in working by yourself. Personal skills would involve being conscientious, dedicated, determined and persistent, in addition to possessing good human relations abilities. Vonna: Could you give us some advantages and disadvantages of the buy and sell system? Mr. Alberto: I’ll start with the disadvantages first so we could have something to look forward to later. Vonna: That’s a good idea, sir. Kindly continue. Mr. Alberto: The main disadvantage of purchasing used cars is that it has an unknown quantity. Whether the dealer has worked the vehicle to make it attractive for the test drive, the buyers are still unaware of the repair bills, economical issues, and its reliable transportation. Vonna: And how about it’s assets or advantages? Mr. Alberto: First of all, buying used cars would save you a lot of money over buying brand new autos, we all know that. Another advantage is that you will receive all the profits generated by your time and efforts since you are the one running your business. In my case, I sell mine with an average of 10-15 % interest rate. Vonna: What is the edge of buying pre-owned unit over buying brand new cars?
  • 7. Mr. Alberto: Hmm, good question. Let's face it. Brand new cars are exceptional over buying used cars since value beats cost and due to some other factors but it doesn’t necessarily mean that second hand cars cannot function well and are unworthy of buying. First of all, they cost less and makes you financial wise. Obviously, you also have to check if the car is in good working condition before deciding whether to buy it or not, even though it is already pre-owned. Don’t rely solely on the cost but consider both the price and the value. Buying a car whether brand new or used car varies, depending on a person’s decision. Let’s use real numbers so that we can come up with a more logical conclusion. Some people opt to buy a brand new car to avoid possible defects from used cars. Here’s a brief explanation. Let’s say that you are looking at a Toyota Innova. A brand-new Toyota Innova E Diesel currently costs P992,000 and according to listings of the same variant on the Internet, pre-owned ones cost between P720,000 and P770,000.Let’s use the median of P745,000 as our price for a pre-owned unit. From this perspective, it does make sense to go for a three-year-old unit because it will save you P247,000. But there are many other issues to be considered. If the pre-owned unit is assumed to be in a very good working condition and that it should not have been submerged in any of the floods we have experienced since 2011, and has a good mechanic and maintenance records, the savings of P247,000 is a good enough reason to buy a pre-owned unit. Vonna: I get the picture. Decision making is crucial in every consumer’s part and the seller’s as well. You’ve really got to be wise in doing business with others and get the best deal you can find with money tight nowadays. Mr. Alberto: That is one of the reasons why the percentage of people buying pre-owned car units escalates with each passing year. They just won’t settle for less for their hard- earned cash. Vonna: I agree with you, sir. And now, for the final question, What is the best possible advice you could recommend for people involved in this industry in transacting and negotiating with one another? Mr.Alberto: The best advice I could give is to always remain polite and do not be aggressive when dealing with others so you could get a substantial discount. Vonna: That is probably one of the most precise and best tip I’ve heard coming from an experienced car dealer. So, I guess this is the finale of our discussion.
