This document outlines the objectives, outcomes, themes, and tasks for a session examining contemporary fine art practice. The key points are: 1. The session will analyze major exhibitions and help students make links between contemporary artists' ideas and their own work. 2. Themes explored by contemporary painters include politics, race, gender, tradition, shocking/subdued works, and relationships with other disciplines and society. 3. The task for students is to research a contemporary artist working within one of the 9 sub-themes, take notes, and give a presentation with visual examples to the group. Feedback will then be shared.
