Tinie Tempah digipak analysis
1.
2. FRONT COVER
•
The front cover of Tinie Tempahs Disc-overy album straight away
conforms to the conventions of pop genre. This is due to the use
of bright colours and the sparkling effects used throughout the
image. This use of bright colours and sparkles stands out to the
audience, conforming to pop genre as these conventions can be
associated with clubbing or dancing and having fun. The effect
this has on the audience is that it provokes a euphoric emotional
response from the audience when viewing the front cover. This
attracts the audience into wanting to find out more about the
product and acts as a selling technique so that the product is
purchased in the first place. The emotional response provoked
through the pop conventions displayed in the image relates to
Maslow's self esteem needs, as when the target audience view
this product, they feel a sense of euphoria boosting their self
esteem. It also has the effect of the audience wanting to
experience this positive emotion further for longer therefore
acting as another factor leading to the eventual purchase of the
product. In terms of mise en scene, Tinie Tempah himself is
positioned in the centre of the screen in an animated form. This
suggests to the audience that he is the main focus of the album
as he is the artist who produced it, and signifies that the songs
on this album will be sung mainly by him with the exception of
some songs possibly featuring other artists. The use of Tinie
Tempah appearing as a slightly animated figure on the album
cover, has the effect of suggesting to the audience that the album
will provoke an emotional response, to the extent of them
believing it isn't real as is more of a dream.
3. BACK COVER
•
The back cover of the album follows the same house style as the front
of the album with the same bright colours, sparkling effect and the
triangle shape positioned in the centre of the screen used. This
suggests continuity, that the albums emotional response provoked
from the colours which stand out is continuous, and doesn’t end
abruptly to allow the best viewing experience for the target
audiences. It suggests due to the continuity of the house style that
the audience can continuously enjoy the entire album without any
loss of their emotional response provoked. The back of this album
also includes the main basic things that a DigiPak should include
such as the barcode and track list. The use of the track list is to
inform the target audience the names of the songs they are about to
listen to. This can provide the audience with enough information to
make relevant links between the lyrics, audio and the song names. It
allows the audience to actively consume the music as they may be
thinking about these relevant links whilst listening. The use of the
bright colours and sparkles present once again further conform to the
pop genre as these colours are the same bright purple and pink
colours as seen on the front. The fact this conforms to the pop genre
further has the effect of provoking an emotional response to the
audience, once again linking to Maslow's self esteem needs. This is
due to the fact these emotions provoked boosts the audiences self
esteem needs as it makes them feel good about themselves.
4. DISC
•
The disc within Tinie Tempahs album still conforms to the house
styles of the front and back covers, but less explicitly. For example
the disc colour is still in purple, but rather than a purple that fades
into pink it is one standard block colour without the use of the
sparkles. This may well be due to the fact that the disc isn't the
main focus of the DigiPak as it is the last thing the audience will
notice when viewing the product before purchase. Due to this, it
isnt necessary to conform completely to the house style to attract
the target audiences, as it is most likely the last item of the DigiPak
they will see. The text used on the disc however completely
conforms to the house style of the text used on the front and back
covers as the font type is exactly the same as well as the white
colour to stand out. The use of the white coloured text throughout
contrasts with the other colours such as the purple. This purposely
has the effect of standing out to the target audience attracting
them to viewing the product in the first place. The fact that the
colours on the disc itself stand out have the effect of making the
audience want to discover what lies on the disc itself, and acts as
the final push to allow the audience to want to listen to the product.
