Hepatitis C (HCV) is an increasingly important global public health issue.
The burden of disease, high prevalence rates, impact on patients’ quality of life and
overall high cost to society all contribute to the urgency in addressing HCV.
The HCV situation is complex:1
To effectively control and prevent the ongoing HCV epidemic, a comprehensive
approach is required: holistic and inclusive of prevention, early intervention, disease
management and follow up strategies.
