2. On day a little girl
named Hannah went to
visit her friend Richanne
who lived a short
distance away. It was the
first time Hannah went to
Richanne’s house so she
was very excited.
Richanne too was quite
pleased to have a friend
over on a playdate. Her
mother allowed it now
that she was eight years
old. Richanne could not
wait to show Hannah all
her toys.
3. The girls played out
in the backyard.
Hannah loved
Richanne’s pet dog
Sparky. She always
wanted one but her
dad said no.
4. They played for hours, then,
after they ate a delicious
meal, both girls went to
Hannah’s room.
5. Hannah was amazed by
the sight of all the cool
things that Hannah had.
She felt a little jealous
inside. Richanne was a
good friend and allowed
Hannah to play with
anything she chose.
Hannnah immediately fell
in love with a beautiful
musical jewel box. It was
decorated with precious
gemstones of various
colours. When it opened,
a beautiful dancing
ballerina spun gracefully
around. Hannah thought
that the ballerina looked
like her and she imagined
that she herself could be a
ballerina.
6. When Richanne’s mother
called her downstairs
Hannah quickly slipped the
jewelbox into her bag. A
short while later, Richanne
came back and both girls
continued to play. When it
was time for Hannah to
leave she thanked both
Hannah and her mother and
left.
7. The next day in school,
Hannah noticed that
Richanne looked very sad
and was just not herself.
She asked her what had
happened and Richanne
told her that she was
missing her jewel box
which was in her room.
She explained that it was
given to her by her
grandmother who died
three years ago. Hannah
said that she did not see it
and that she did not know
where it was. Richanne
began to cry and explained
that it was all she had to
remember her
grandmother .
8. A week passed and
Hannah never returned
the jewel box. One
evening when her
mother was cleaning
her room she found the
jewel box and after
reading the inscription
below she knew whose
it was. She called
Hannah and told her
how disappointed she
was in her actions. After
a long lecture and
punishment she took
Hannah to return the
jewel box and to
apologize to Richanne
and her parents.
9. Richanne was
happy to get back
her jewel box but
did not want to be
Hannah’s friend
anymore. This was
understandable
because Hannah
was a dishonest
friend. And because
of her dishonesty
Hannah lost a good
friend.
