Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated in many countries where people give thanks for family, friends, food, jobs, homes and countries. In the United States, the first Thanksgiving took place in Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts in 1621 when the Pilgrims celebrated their first harvest after surviving a long winter. Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November and families come together to share a meal of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie before spending time with each other through traditions like playing games or going shopping on Black Friday.
