What Colorado Springs Residents Can Expect from “All-on-4” Dental Implants, PART 2
1. This four-part article series describes in detail the procedure involved in
getting a brand new set of beautiful, fixed teeth with the “All-on-4” dentAl
implant technique.
Welcome to the second installment of this four-
part article series on “All-on-4” dental implants
and what Colorado Springs residents can expect
from the procedure. Previously, in Part 1, we
explained that the “All-on-4” is a dental implant
technique that makes it possible for most
edentulous (toothless) or near-edentulous
patients to get a brand new set of non-
removable teeth in just one day.
The question we now want to answer is exactly what the procedure involves, from the initial
consultation with a specially trained Colorado Springs dentist to your very final post-operative follow-up
appointment…
Step 1: Your Initial Consultation
The first step of your exciting journey involves an appointment with the specially trained dentist who
will be performing your dental implant surgery! You’ll get to sit down with him or her and discuss your
medical history and the various things that have been bothering you about your
oral health. The dentist will then perform a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, as well as
take X-rays of your jaw to determine if you’ve suffered any bone loss as a result of having lived without
natural teeth for a long period of time.
Once your Colorado Springs dental implant surgeon has a good understanding of your medical case,
your medical history and the various changes you’d like to see in your ability to eat, speak and smile,
your candidacy for “All-on-4” dental implants will be discussed. Most Colorado Springs residents who
present with advanced tooth loss and edentulism can be considered candidates for the procedure, so
you won’t have to worry about being turned away.
A date will be set for your surgery, but you may also be required to return to the dentist’s office for one
or two treatment planning sessions.
Step 2: Treatment Planning
2. As it was explained above, in the weeks prior to your “All-on-4” dental implant surgery, you may be
required to return to your Colorado Springs dentist for one or more treatment planning sessions. During
this time, he or she may take:
Photographs of your teeth and smile for a before-and-after comparison,
X-rays of your jaw to help plan the best sites for implant placement, and
Molds of your teeth to enable the dental lab technicians to create a new set of teeth for you
from prosthetics and other composite materials.
During this phase, you’ll also be establishing a relationship with your dental implant dentist and his or
her team of administrative and medical staff. This builds comfort and trust, which will make all the
difference on the day of your procedure, when you will more than likely feel a little nervous!
Also, if you have any questions at all, the treatment planning phase will be the ideal time to ask them.
And remember to be thorough when explaining your medical history to your Colorado Springs dentist:
don’t fail to mention any diseases or conditions you may have or medications you may be on, because
ultimately, this could get in the way of your successful treatment.
