This document provides an overview of the EVOBODY project, which aims to develop new principles of unbound embodied evolution for information processing. Funded by the EU, the project seeks to design autonomous physical units that can reproduce, be selected for survival based on computing tasks, and evolve over time to continuously improve their computing capabilities through an asynchronous evolutionary process without central control. Major challenges include designing the physical units, enabling autonomous reproduction and inheritance, and balancing general survival with task-specific selection.
