1. The Thaumatrope
• The Thaumatrope is a toy composed of a disk which is attached to
strings at each end.
• To make this object we need :
_Two strings
_paper
_scissors
_a pencil
2. First , cut a circle of paper. Pierce a hole on
each side of the circle .Attach strings in the
holes. On the first face, we draw a bird and
a cage on the other face.
3. If we turn the disk with the strings, we
believe we see the bird inside the cage.
4. This object was made in 1824 by Peter
M. Roget. It’s the first object to use the
persistence of vision.
