5. Video On Demand Plus+
This service was developed for T-Mobile (UK) as a way to encourage consumers to buy longer form
video, whilst avoiding the problems consumers have had with existing Mobile TV services.
Video On Demand Plus+ allows users to watch, pause and resume video on their PC as
well as phone. It is the first service in the market that enables customers to view streamed video on
mobile, stop viewing, and continue where they left off (book marked) on their PCs
Video On Demand Plus+ launched on the T-Mobile network in the United Kingdom in September.
Play, Pause and Resume on whichever device you are using at the time.
6. Side load
Sideloading is a process used to move a file between two computers or a computer and a peripheral device
(e.g. phone).
The most common way to sideload content is via a USB interface. However, a memory card reader can also be used to
transfer a file.
Sideload Benefits
Traditional E-commerce for a Mobile Product
Content will be purchased online via credit card.
Cheaper for Consumer
Using the PC as the purchase mechanic and download tool avoids costly mobile data charges, which could be prohibitive to
an off portal service.
Convenient
In many cases, the download will be significantly faster than transferring over the air (OTA).
Secure
Using OMA DRM 2.0, the downloaded file will be pre-encrypted to the lock to the specific handset and will not be playable
on the PC.
Other Benefits
Excludes operator billing
Similar to iPod in terms of consumer education as how to load their device
Great marketing tool for website
Companies can hand out vouchers or place them in the box/bag for films instead of expensive preloads
