Planning for
Production
Including, setting, props, costume and
characters
By Chelsea Miller
The Setting:

This is where the car could be
parked, at the end of the track
near the opening of camp.
This is the location in which the tracking shots will take
place, i.e when the teenagers are running from the
antagonist. This is because they will look effective in the
dark because there is a forest either side which gives it a
spooky feel.

This is where
the friends
intend to camp.
There will be a
tent set up here.
Also this is
where they will
play team
games.

This is the forest location where
the camp fire will be set up and
where the friends see the dark
figure in the background. The
trees in the surroundings will
make it look eerie at night time.

When the teens are
entering and leaving
camp, the car will drive
down this long spooky
track. At the point where
the car don’t start this is
where the antagonist will
be standing with the car
headlights shining on her.
Props:

Here are some images of some of the props we will be using. As
you can see there is a knife, an axe, a tent and a teddy bear. The
knife will be used when the Father of the antagonist character kills
the Mother. The axe will be the antagonist’s main weapon as it is
conventional to the horror genre and seems more violent than
most other weapons. The tent will be put up at the camp site
where the teenagers intend on staying the night until all things
descend into gloom. And finally the teddy bear will be used when
there is a flashback of the antagonist’s past (the part where the
girl will see her Mum being killed). The teddy bear will represent
her as young an therefore innocent.

Characters:

These characters above are the main 6 characters in the film.
Top Left- Kirsten (Antagonist)
Top Middle- Molly (friend) (Mother)
Top Right- Ash (Protagonist/friend)
Bottom Left- Chels (Protagonist/friend) (Father)
Bottom Middle- Phil (friend) (Antagonist as child)
Bottom Right- Phil (friend)
The first set of brackets shows their role to the main plot of the
trailer. The second set of brackets are those characters involved in
the flash back of the antagonists past.
Costume:

This is a similar idea to what the
antagonist will be wearing. A
white/cream nightgown is the
main intention as it represents the
girls childhood and innocence as
well as giving a ghost-like feel to
the trailer. Also, the night gown
will be torn and quite dirty which
will connote that the antagonist
has been wearing it for a long
time, and perhaps since the death
of her Mother.

The group of friends will be wearing casual,
every-day clothes in order for them to be
represented as ‘normal’ through their costume.
The friends will probably be wearing big coats
and jackets as it is Winter and therefore it may
be cold at the camp. The friends will also be
wearing boots/trainers for footwear and will
probably have big bags full of their camping
gear.

The Father
character who kills
the Mother will be
wearing a black
cloak/other black
clothing. They will
probably wear a
mask and gloves
too, which hide
his/her identity.

The Mother of the antagonist
will be wearing a pair of
trousers, boots and a blouse.
The blouse and smart trousers
will represent the Mother as
more mature compared to the
teenagers who are wearing
more casual clothing such as
jumpers.
