An IEP team is a group of professionals who help develop,
implement, and maintain the student’s IEP
*Principal (and/or assistant) Psychologist
*Special Education Teacher Occupational Therapist
*General Education Teacher Audiologist
Speech Language Pathologist Parents
4. Why are IEPs needed?
• The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a federal law that
mandates that all students have equal access and opportunity to
the curriculum.
• IEPs state all accommodations (and/or modifications) and related services
that the student is to receive to better access the curriculum and learn
• Providing appropriate IEPs is a legal obligation that the education system
has
