4. What is Forex?
• Forex stands for “Foreign Exchange” and is used to describe
trading in the foreign exchange market.
• The foreign exchange market is the place where the world´s currencies
are traded.
• This is not a physical exchange but rather a global decentralized
marketplace that determine the relative value of different
currencies.
• Transactions are conducted worldwide by participants ranging
from central banks to retail traders.

5. What are Currency Pairs
• A currency pair is the quotation of the relative value of a currency
against another one.
• The EUR/USD pair reflects the price of the euro against the dollar. This
means that if the price of the EUR/USD is at 1.2980, 1 Euro equals to
1.2980 US Dollars
• In the previous example the Euro is the base currency and the US Dollar
is the quote currency.
• The price represents how much of the quote currency (USD) is needed
to be able to buy 1 unit of the base currency (EUR).
