Introduction to Ideas
I decided from the beginning of this coursework that I would like to develop a new pop
band, as I investigated from my research that girls are more into reading and looking at
images of young girl artists/bands. This is because they are more inspiring and young girls
can relate to these pop singers/bands. I come up with a variety of different ideas that I
thought would be effective. For instance, I was to decide between a party theme, a casual
theme and sleepover theme. I thought all three of these ideas were creative, though I had
to come up to a decision of only choosing one. I then came to a decision of using the
sleepover theme in my music magazine.
I believe this is a fantastic idea as it is creative, effective and realistic. It is also what fun,
young teenage girls do, which is why I thought it would be a good idea. I have decided to
use four young girls to become a glamorous, young girl group. They are all gorgeous girls
that will be wearing bright makeup as this will present them as a pop girl band. Each
member of the group will be wearing girly, stylish and fashionable pyjamas to show their
beauty. They will also be wearing nail varnish, and a variety of accessories to show their
femininity and glamour.
I have come with the decision of using a plain white background in each of my main images
as I find this is a professional and effective look, with high key studio lighting. By using this, it
makes the article and images stand out and creates a sense of fun and excitement. I will be
using different kinds of props like feathers, pillows, nail polish etc, to emphasis the theme
and create a sense of young girls, doing girly things like the target audience and living life to
the full.
For each image, the girls will be wearing the same costume throughout, with the same
hairstyle and make up and the same colours. This is to have a continuous theme, to make
the girl group stand out and create a symbiotic link. In each image, the girls will have a
happy facial expression, smiling and laughing to show they are having fun and to bring out
their personality, which links to the personality of the reader: happy, fun, bubbly and
humorous. There will be a variety of different images on the double page spread to show
what the young girls get up to at a sleepover and they will be interviewed and asked a
variety of different questions. This is so the target audience is able to find out more
information and get to know the girl group.
The magazine will include: famous bands/artists, instruments, interviews, posters,
competitions, concerts, gossip, advertisements and many more. This will be done to attract
the reader and make them want to read more of the magazine, and make a repeat
purchase. It would contain many images of famous singers and interesting, fun articles. I will
use a youthful and informal mode of address as this is how young teenage girls would speak
to one another. This would then form a bond between the reader and magazine.
