Ride the Storm: Navigating Through Unstable Periods / Katerina Rudko (Belka G...
Guitar Lesson
1. Lesson 1
Lesson 1 is in the key of Bb minor. This exercise requires legato technique, which is
quite challenging. Read the part carefully and pay attention to “slurs”, ‘coz they’re
everywhere. If you are not familiar with legato technique, try some basic exercise
before. Of course it needs extra “strength” on your left fingers. Some notes are not
“in” the key center, but still I use them just to “spice” it up little bit.
2. Lesson 2
Lesson 2 one is also in the key center of Bb minor. (....I like Bb somehow....). As you
can see, there is a string skipping from F to C, which a bit tricky. I suggest you focus
on that jump first. If you can use your other right finger to pluck the string, ( like
hybrid picking or chicken picking ), that’ll help a lot, since I use my other fingers all the
time in conjunction with my pick.
Still legato technique is everywhere in this exercise.
3. Lesson 3
Lesson 3. This time we are in the key of E minor ( ...yup it’s the favorite key center for
guitar player ). And......again legato is a must here. Hmm........looks like I really use
legato a lot. Gee.......suddenly I realize that it’s like a second habit to me. Well you
don’t have to do it if you don’t like, but with legato you can get a smoother
sound, rather than picking every note. I threw some melodic minor a little bit in the
beginning (hope you like it ). By the way..... I always use my other right finger to pluck
the strings, so it’s more like a finger style picking stuff. But again it’s optional. Good
luck friends.
