March is luckily arriving to this small town / trimmed in the material of
spring
悠悠的流水如帶 在石橋下打著結子的,
The strap of babble stream Just like the tie under a stone bridge
Unhurried flowing ribbon of water / knotting under the stone bridge
而且 勞繫著那舊城樓的倒影的
And the shadow of an old town
And laboriously tying the reflection of the old gate tower
三月的綠色如流水......
The green like stream in March
As green as flowing March water…
客來小城,巷閭寂靜
2. I come to the town, the silence cover the alleys
Visitors come to town / the lane gate in quietness
客來門下,銅環的輕叩如鐘
I come to the door, the knocking sounds like a resounding bell
Visitors come on in the tap of the copper door-knocker is a bell
遠天飄飛的雲絮
The cloud like cotton full of the sky
Fluffy clouds float through distant skies
與一階落花..
The cloud like cotton full of the sky
With the dispersed leaves
With a step of fallen flowers…

小時候我盼望著,傍晚時候刮著風;拉緊風箏,隨它飄上天。
I was looking forward to the wind breeze as night falls when I was a
child.
Tie the kite tight and let the kite fly up to the sky wherever.
*When I was a child I’d hope, in the evening the wind would blow;
holding onto a kite, and with it take flight into the sky
小時候我盼望著,暑假時候河水涼;盡情玩水,還有魚和蝦。
I was looking forward to the river cool in the summer time when I was a
child.
Spend time at the seaside where the fish and shrimp do live.
When I was a child I’d hope, the cool river waters during summer
holiday;
*Playing in the water as much as I’d like, with the fish and shrimp.
長大時,溜走歡笑、溜走童年、我變了,星夜在昏睡中去了。
Laughter fled. Childhood fled. The stars fell asleep.
I am not the person who I used to be after growing up.
*Growing up, slipping away is the laughter, slipping away is the
childhood, and I changed, the stars in the night sky slipped away in my
slumber.
4. 成熟了却也世故了,不再想做遊俠,曾想穿新鞋、如今有新鞋、却失
落了童年。
I am mature but sophisticated. I want to find a place where I belong.
How can I feel empty even though I have great achievement in my life.
*Becoming mature but sophisticated, no longer a maverick, once wanted
new shoes, and now have got them, yet lost my childhood
小時候我盼望著,放學時候天還亮;放下書包,廟前玩彈珠。
I was looking forward to the bright sky even after school when I was a
child.
Drop my bag at home then run out to the temple to play marbles.
*When I was a child I’d hope, the sky was still bright after school, put
down my schoolbag, played marbles in front of the temple
小時候我盼望著,夜深時候滿天星;明朝天晴,夢裏也歡笑。
I was looking forward to the stars sprinkling over the night.
Tomorrow will be fine. My dream will be full of smiles.
*When I was a child I’d hope, the sky was full of stars late at night, the
clear sky in the morning, laughter even in dreams

Everyone knows the gods are great, only cannot forget the fame
*THOUGH the virtues of the Gods / All mankind may fully know,
Earthly longings and ambitions / They unwillingly forego.
古今將相在何方 荒塚一堆草沒了
Where are ancient and future, the grave and grass were faded away
*Yet pause and think ! The wise and brave / Of old, now where are they ?
Their graves o'ergrown and hid with weeds / Themselves a heap of clay.
世人都曉神仙好 只有金銀忘不了
Everyone knows the gods are great, only cannot forget the valuables
*Though the virtues of the Gods / All mankind may fully know,
Still the heaping up of riches / They reluctantly forego.
終朝只恨聚無多 及到多時眼閉了
Everyday regret not much together, when the times come but with eyes
down
*Daily they lament their failure, / With their first and latest breath,
When satiety arrives / Then their eyes are closed in death.
世人都曉神仙好 只有嬌妻忘不了
Everyone knows the gods are great, only cannot forget the wife
*Though the virtues of the Gods / All mankind may fully know,
Still the love of lovely women / They reluctantly forego.
君生日日說思情 君死又隨人去了
8. The husband talks love every day, but the husband pass away with
something
*The virtues of their living Lords / Daily, women will commend,
Buried, once beneath the sod / To others they their love extend.

*Though the virtues of the Gods / All mankind may fully know,
Yet the love of sons and grandsons / They reluctantly forego.
癡心父母古來多 孝順子孫誰見了
There are many silly parents in the past, but where are the descendants
with filial piety
*Foolish, tender-hearted parents / In the world are very many --
Filial and obedient children, / Who has ever met with any?
