  • 1. 97 % of the animal kingdom is made up of invertebrates.
  • 2. Invertebrates are animals that do not have backbones. Some can be found in ponds, oceans, and other water environments. Insects and some other invertebrates have exoskeletons. An exoskeleton is a hard outer covering that protects an animal’s body and gives it support.
  • 3. They look like plants but they are animals. Sponges stay fixed in one place. They have no mouth, stomachs, or other organs Most live in oceans The cannot move They stink a lot
  • 4. They have jellyfish tentacles They have a mouth They live on the ocean floor They shoot poisonous darts Sea anemone coral
  • 5. They can grow back parts if they lose parts. Some worms can grow to 30 METERS long An earthworm has hairs on it to help it go through the dirt!!! Flatworm Roundworms Segmented

  • 12. They have five pairs of legs. They live near or on the ocean floor. Live on land and water. They have antennae.
  • 13. Largest group of arthropods. 3 pairs of legs. 3 main body part sections. 2 pairs of eyes. Have mouths.
