Different type of mirrors and their
           characteristics

                                      1
There are 3 different
 types of mirrors;

 Flat Mirror
 Convex mirror
 Concave mirror

                         2
 What is a flat mirror?

 Could you give examples of flat mirrors being used in every day life?

 What are the characteristics of the image of an object in front of a flat mirror?

                                                                              3
 Image on the other side
 Image as the same size as the object
 Image in the same distance to the mirror as the object to the mirror
 Left side of the object is the right side of the image in the mirror

                                                                           4
 What is a convex mirror?
 How do you see the images in a convex mirror?
 Examples of using convex mirrors in every day life??

                                                         5
The image is always on the other side of the mirror and it is smaller.
You can see Convex mirrors on the roads, and inside the buildings in
the corners.

                                                                     6
 What is a concave mirror?
 How do you see the images in a concave mirror?
 Examples of using concave mirrors in every day life??

                                                          7
Depending on the distance between the object and concave mirrors ,
And offcourse the mirror’s characteristics, the image can be larger or
smaller than the object. It also can be further or closer to the mirror .
The image can be upside down too!
Dentists use concave mirrors to get a large image of our tiny teeth!!

                                                                            8
At the end of this lesson , how about watching video about the mirrors and light?

It is fun, isn’t it? Next lesson is about the arrows of light and hoe they bounce of the
Mirror and construct the image!

Your task for the next lesson is turn in to a detective and detect all different types
of mirrors that are used out there. Make a list of them. When ever you find one
Look in to it and put down what your image looks like! Have fun!

                                                                                   9
