2. 1.0 Record a video
Objective: Upon completion of the syllabus, students of MIM will be able to
record a video from the available input source and save the raw file for
editing purposes in the future, without human guidance.
Success story: the students have captured the events occurred within the
predefined area on screen, together with narrator’s voice over, and save the
recorded raw clips.
3. 2.1 Click Record the Screen button
1. Double click Camtasia Studio 8 icon to launch the software.
2. Locate and click Record the screen button on the toolbar.
3. Verify a new pop-up section is now available on the lower right of the PC
screen.
Success story: students are able to identify the correct button to initiate the
screen recording interface.
4. 2.2 Select area of recording
1. Upon completion of test item 2.1, launch and create a new document in
Microsoft Words.
2. Go to Select area section of the new pop-up section.
3. Click Custom dropdown.
4. Click Select area to record option.
5. Mouse over the text area of Microsoft Words program and click on the
undimmed area.
5. 2.2 Select area of recording
6. Verify a set of custom recording dimensions have been displayed next to the
Custom option.
7. Verify the unselected areas on screen have been grayed-out accordingly.
Success story: students are able to pin-point the exact area they need in
Microsoft Words to perform the on-screen recording.
6. 2.3 Select input source
1. Upon completion of test items 2.2, go to the Recorded inputs section on the
same pop-up panel.
2. Click to disable Webcam.
3. Click to enable Audio recording.
4. Verify the volume bar has been displayed between the Audio and rec button.
5. Click on the dropdown next to audio icon and select a microphone from the
list of audio input source.
6. Adjust the volume bar based on individual preferences.
Success story: students are able to disable webcam and select microphone as
the audio input source prior to the recording.
7. 2.4 Record the media
1. Upon completion of test items 2.3, click rec button, OR press F9 key.
2. Verify a duration timer and recording tool and a countdown timer has been
displayed on screen.
3. Verify a green cornered-border has been displayed to point out the recorded
area on screen.
4. Speak a quick self-introduction while typing the following sentence in
Microsoft Words, “Quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”
5. Verify the number of the duration timer is increasing.
8. 2.4 Record the media
6. Click Stop button OR press F10 key.
7. Verify the recording has been stopped accordingly.
8. Verify the newly captured screen recording and the voice over is now playing
on screen.
Success story: the students are able to record and replay their newly
recorded activities on Microsoft Words and listen to their self-introduction.
9. 2.5 Click Save and Edit button
1. Upon completion of test items 2.4, click Save and Edit button from the video
preview panel.
2. Define a folder location.
3. Save the raw media as Record1.camrec.
4. Verify the video has been imported to Clipbin.
5. Define the Editing Dimensions then click OK.
6. Verify the self-introduction narration clip has been placed on track 1 in
Timeline panel.
10. 2.5 Click Save and Edit button
7. Verify the recorded on-screen activities clip has been placed on track 2 in
Timeline panel.
8. Click Play button OR press space bar key to view the media clips.
Success story: the students are able to save the recorded clip in their
preferred location and import the clip for editing purposes.
