2. 1.0 Launch the Software
 Objective: At the end of the syllabus, the students of MIM will be able to
launch TechSmith Camtasia 8 software and create a new project file, without
any major issues, after having a basic understanding of the GUI and commonly
used features.
 Success story: students are able to launch the software and create a new
Camtasia project file with their preferred video dimension.

3. 1.1 Understand the basic GUI
1. Go to Task_assessment > Task_1 folder.
2. Locate Name-the-GUI.txt file.
3. Open the text file.
4. Launch the Camtasia Studio 8 software.
5. Study the GUI.
6. Refer to the text file for detailed instructions.
7. Name the panels and explain the features stated in the file.
 Success story: students are able to explain some of the most commonly used
buttons, features, and shortcut keys without human guidance or reference
materials.

4. 1.2 Create a new file
1. Upon completion of test item 1.1, locate the Project-info.txt file provided in
the instructional CD.
2. In toolbar, click File > New project OR press Ctrl + N keys to create a new
Camtasia project file.
3. Verify the Untitled.camproj file has been initiated.
4. Go to View > Project > Project information.
5. Refer to the text file, then fill in the Title, Subject, Keywords, and
Descriptions in Project Information tab.
6. Fill in the Creator and E-mail in Author Information tab.
7. Click OK button.

5. 1.2 Create a new file
8. Click File > Save project as OR press Ctrl + S keys.
9. Define a folder location and name the project as Lesson1.camproj.
10. Verify the title bar has been replaced with Lesson1.camproj.
11. Verify the Lesson1.camproj file can be found in the designated folder
location.
 Success story: students are able to prepare new Camtasia project file with
basic video information for the upcoming test items.
