2. Q1-State your gender/age/profession
• This demographic
shows that most of the
audience are female,
ages 16-17 and are
students.
• This suggests that I
should target the
magazine at female
students as they are
most likely to buy the
magazine. I can do this
my featuring more
female artists so it is
more relatable to the
audience.
3. Q2- How often do you read magazines?
• This question shows that more
people read magazines than
don’t even though the biggest
bar is people who “never” read
music magazine. However the
people who do read them read
them very varied amounts.
4. Q3-What genre of music magazines are you
likely to read?
• Here the results show that most people read
rock magazines than any other genre so this
would be a good genre to cover in my
magazine as it is the most popular.
• Indie magazines are also popular so this would
be another genre to consider for making a
music magazine.
• Metal and RnB magazines are the least
popular so I probably wouldn’t consider
making a magazine in one of those genres.
5. Q4-What magazines do you currently
read/buy?
• Here we see clearly that out of
the actual music magazines listed
Kerrang! is the most popular so it
would be sensible to find out
what features Kerrang! use that
make it so popular with its target
audience.
6. Q5- What do you look for in a magazine?
• Question 5 aided in finding out what
readers like to see in a music
magazine so I can produce content
they would actually want to buy.
• It shows that most people want to
read interviews from well known
artists so I would include plenty so
readers get what they want out of the
magazine.
7. Q6- How often do you attend live music
events?
• This question helps to find out more
about the readers as people and what
their level of interest in music is.
• It shows that the majority of the
audience likes to attend music events
so it would be ideal to include articles
related to live events. However it also
shows that they aren’t avid events
goers so it’s not the most important
feature.
8. Q7- How do you obtain music?
• This question also investigates the habits of the
audience in order to find out more about them.
• Surprisingly, it shows that most people obtain their
music through records and CDs rather than
downloading and streaming. This means possibly
offering free gifts such as CDs with sample songs
with the magazine is a good idea or offering
chances to win records. This might tempt for
people to buy the magazine and since Rock Sound
already does this it indicates that it is a successful
tactic in gaining more readers.
