we jump into those studies, let’s first establish the relationship between diabetes and water.
According to a French study in 2011, 3615 men
and women with normal blood sugar who drank
at least 34 ounces of water a day were 21%
less likely to develop hyperglycemia over the
next nine years when compared to those who
drank just 16 ounces. This research also
shows an association between diabetes and
the hormone vasopressin, which regulates
water in the body.
Why is this research so important? Because
an astounding 30 million men and women in
the United States have diabetes and an
additional 85 million have a condition where
blood sugar levels are higher than normal but
not yet diabetic called prediabetic. That means
that nearly one out of every four Americans has
hyperglycemia or at least elevated blood sugar levels and, due to our high carb and high fat fast food diet,
the rest of us are probably approaching prediabetic blood sugar levels.
Considering that hyperglycemia and diabetes, both type one and type two, have side effects such as loss
of energy, poor sexual function, wounds that won’t heal, always thirsty, always hungry, vaginal infections,
and more, this is situation that every American should take seriously.
The fact that there is a stong link between water and diabetes due to the hormone vasopressin is an
indication of just how critical alkaline water diabetes research has become.
Relevant Alkaline Water Diabetes Research
A study was conducted in Germany in 2008. Type one and type two diabetic patients were split into two
groups. One group was given purified water to drink. The other group was given ionized alkaline water to

2. drink. Participants drank the water for a six week period. Here are the results:
Type 1 diabetic patients who drank ionized alkaline water saw a 33.3% drop in their blood sugar. Their
cholesterol, LDL, and triglyzeride levels reduced while their HDL levels increased. Their HbA1c levels
dropped from 7.9% to 6.8%, which reduced their risk of blindness by 45%. Finally, their medication intake
decreased by 35%!
Type 2 diabetic patients who drank ionized alkaline water saw their triglyzeride, LDL, and cholesterol levels
decrease while their HDL levels also increased. They also saw their blood sugar levels drop by an average
of 27.1%. They saw their HbA1c levels drop from 9.2% to 7.2%, also reducing their risk for blindness.
And they also got to enjoy popping fewer pills, experiencing a similar 45% drop in their medication intake.
The results of the groups drinking ionized alkaline were compared to the group drinking purified water and,
unfortunately, the purified water drinking group noticed no significant changes in their health.
Why Alkaline Water Diabetes Research is
Critical
As you can see demonstrated in the German study, the type
of water that you drink is critical. Drinking ionized alkaline
water yields a whole host of positive health benefits while
drinking a purified, bottled, or tap water yields no benefits.
But why?
The key is the antioxidants. Water that has been exposed
to an energy source has antioxidants in it. This is because
the energy coming from the sun or from water electrolysis in
a water ionizer appears in the water as ions. Hydroxyl ions,
which are the natural antioxidant in water, are created when
these ions combine the hydrogen.
The hydroxyl ions appear in ionized alkaline water as tiny
little bubbles and when you drink this water, all of those
hydroxyl ions are delivered to your cells where they go to
war against free radicals. Free radicals are unstable
oxygen molecules that have been damaged during food digestion and also from our exposure to toxins and
pollutants.
There are billions of hydroxyl ions in a glass of ionized alkaline water that will fight these free radicals and
reduce what scientists call oxidative stress in our cells.
It turns out in other research that high levels of oxidative stress in our cells is directly related to diabetic and
prediabetic conditions. This is the reason why drinking ionized alkaline water has such a powerful impact
at regulating our blood sugar levels.
