    •   If the Sonicwall firewall is rebooting on its own, check to see if any host on your network have
        viruses or are generating attacks that are filling the connection cache. This could bring down the
        firewall repeatedly within a short amount of time. You should be able to quickly determine if
        there is a virus generating excessive traffic.



    •   View the connection cache after rebooting to see if there are an excessive number of
        connections being created rapidly. Observing rapid increases of thousands of connections for a
        small network or tens of thousands for a large network will be a likely sign of a virus or attack on
        your network.



    •   If you can identify a particular culprit of an attack or virus, you can write a rule to drop all traffic
        from the offending IP address (es). This will keep any connections from establishing and free up
        the cache so the firewall can function while you remove the virus from the offending host.



    •   Check that the original Sonicwall firewall power supply is connected (units with external
        supplies) and appears in good condition. Check that the Sonicwall firewall link lights appear to
        be functioning properly and are not dim.
•   Ensure the latest recommended firmware is installed.



    •   If this problem begins after a firmware upgrade, Reinstall the previous version used and load the
        ‘prefs’ file saved from before running the upgrade.
