2. • Kuntal is 34 years old and a native of Mumbai
• Born of very modest roots, he worked hard to
leverage an education and earned a scholarship to USC’s
Masters Program in Computer Science
• He is the primary wage earner for his family in India as well
as the primary caretaker for his father who was recently diagnosed
with dementia
• He chose to scale back on his IT career to use his skills and experience
in mountaineering and photography and for causes that matter
• His dream was first realized at age 17 when he saw the documentary
movie Nova Everest on TV and was completely mesmerized by the
challenge of climbing the highest mountain of the world, Mt. Everest

3. • 4 years ago, Kuntal set a BIG, audacious goal to to climb
Mount Everest
• Kuntal decided to reinvent his life and become healthier
after hearing the sad news about his father
• To prepare, he needed to lose weight so he became a vegan and
began exercising, walking and hiking regularly
• He learned to climb and trained with climbing teams
• He’s summited several peaks in preparation for his final Everest
climb
• The climb will give him a platform to discuss dementia awareness
and get a lot of exposure to this specific issue
• He will record his journey, creating a video blog of the
experience

4. • Kuntal’s video blog will explore the following themes:
o Pushing one's limits to discover one's true self (Man Vs.
Himself)
o Elevating oneself from the limits forced upon them by
society
o Loyalty to family (his relationship with his ill father, wife,
relatives and friends)
o One's role and responsibility in their community
o A community's responsibility to its people

5. • Kuntal has already accomplished the following:
o Climbed Mt. Stok Kangri in the Stok range in Ladakh, India at
6,153 (20,000+ feet) meters
o Climbed the Kala Pattar in the Nepalese Himalayas, at an
altitude of 5,500 meters
o Summited the Basisi Col at an altitude of 19,500 feet as part of a
team that forged a new route in the Indian Himalayas.
o Ascended the 5,200 meter high Bali Pass summit in the Indian
Himalayas
o Scaled the 5,289 meter high Friendship Peak in Himachal
Pradesh
o Scaled the 5,819 meter high Mt. Rudragaira
