Installation:
As per regular WordPress plugin installation simply upload the
zipped folder to your WordPress blog. Note: Do NOT unzip the folder
prior to uploading as this will result in an error and the plugin will not
install. P.s. Don’t forget to click Activate once it is installed.

When editing any new page / post following installation of the plugin, the
option exists to have the plugin periodically check how the page or post
matches the settings. The user can also manually click the ‘Check SEO’
button to the right hand side of the page being edited (below the
progress bar/SEO gauge. This auto function can be turned on or off
using ‘Enable Auto-Check blog Post/Page’ tick box. This feature is
useful when editing body text. The auto check period is set by the user
to the required number of seconds depending on preference and speed
of editing.
‘Display SEO Score in Progress Bar’ tick box: this allows the user to
choose between displaying the SEO score of the page being edited as
either a speedo-type gauge or a basic progress bar as a visual aid.
‘Google Webmaster tools’ hyperlink: this will bring you to Google
Webmaster tools where you need to log in prior to submitting sitemaps.
Remember to click ‘Save All Changes’ button after adjusting settings.

‘SEO Spotlight Ultimate Fields Description’ is self explanatory. It is a
glossary of relevant terms and functions associated with the Plugin.

On Page SEO Settings
The Global settings for on-page features are set in this section. Global
settings will apply to all new pages/posts generated until the Local
settings are activated and over-ride the Global settings. This is done
during Editing of that specific page/post. This allows the use of different
criteria on each page/post if required. Remember to Save All Changes.

Social Reports
Social Reports are available to show the social exposure levels of pages
or posts, with filters at the top of the page to allow filtering by Top SEO
Score. Both the SEO score and the number of Likes, Tweets and Plus
1’s can be monitored using the plugin. This is most useful when large
numbers of pages/posts are present. In this case select ‘Pages and
Posts in Diagram View’ which at a glance displays their relationship and
also the SEO score (if selected in Main Settings) and the social report
results. See Figures 6, 7, 8 below.

Video Sitemap Generator
To generate video Sitemaps of your site it is necessary to log in to
Google Webmaster Tools and proceed to add your site. The easiest
method of doing this is to click through to webmaster Tools from the
Main Control Settings hyperlink, log into your Webmaster account, add
your site URL, and verify your ownership. Verification can be done in
several ways, the quickest is to select ‘Alternative Method’ and to log
into your host account through Webmaster Tools. This takes only a few
seconds to verify. Then return to the plugin and click ‘Generate video
Sitemap’. There is a tick box option to include video length if so required.

Your xml video sitemap is now generated. Viewing the sitemap is not
strictly necessary however this can be done by clicking on the hyperlink
directly above the generated map, see figure 10 below for an example.
The address of the xml sitemap will then appear as the URL which can
be copied ready for pasting into Google Webmaster Tools.

Return to Webmaster Tools and select your site which you previously
added and verified. Go to ‘Optimisation’ and then ‘Sitemaps’. Select
‘Add/test’ SiteMap and it is possible to then test the sitemap for error
before finally submitting to Google.
This is a highly manual and tedious process if lots of sites are to be
completed. It is recommended to do this process if you are
experimenting with new or unfamiliar methods of embedding videos or if
it is the first video sitemap for that site. However for established sites

and when you are satidfied that your methods of displaying videos on
your sites do not cause errors for Google it is then possible to use an
instant method to submit your updated video sitemap without the above
process. Simply click on ‘ping Google’ hyperlink which is directly under
the video site map just generated by the plugin. This will submit your
sitemap directly to Google. (See figure 10 above).

SEO URL Searching
This powerful feature allows you to find and analyse your top 10 Google
ranked competitors for a keyword (s), and to then extract Keyword
Metadata from their sites. This Metadata can then be imported to
specific pages or posts on your sites using a .csv file.
Type your chosen keyword(s) into the dialog box and select ‘Searching
from Keyword’ and then ‘Submit’. This will then take a few seconds to
come back with the top 10 Google sites ranked for that search Keyword

term. The data for these sites can then be saved as a .csv file by clicking
on ‘Export Table to csv’ at the bottom of the page.
Reimporting data using .csv for use in your own pages:
This can be done in 2 possible ways.
1. Open the Top 10 .csv file just generated and delete any unwanted
metadata. The end result must have only 1 one set of metadata in
the file, so ensure if you are going to combine metadata from
several of the top sites, that you move the metadata into a single
row in the csv file, then ‘save as’ your chosen filename.
2. The alternative way of using csv data is when you know that you
want to use the meta data from a single site. In this case copy and
paste the chosen competitor site URL into the dialog box and
select the option ‘Searchin from URL’ to the right hand side and
‘Submit’. This will bring up the metadata for that URL. Again select
generate csv file at the base of the page.
To upload a csv generated by either of the above methods, go to the
page/post being edited and expand the section called ‘On Page SEO
Setting’. This area allow you to set specific Local on page rules or
settings. Next expand the next section ‘OnPage CSV Upload’ and
browse to locate your CSV file of choice. Once uploaded, ensure that
the page/post is Updated or published in orer to activate the CSV and
the Local on page settings. The Metadata from the competitor page will

then be inserted into the relevant sections of your own page/post.
