by making them into decorations. The place also showed me what would happen if I did not keep
the seas and rivers clean. It would be polluted and we would not be able to use it. This is also why
the 3 Rs are important. By reusing, recycling and reducing the usage of plastic bags and other
substances that cannot be broken down, we are helping to save the earth. I hope that everyone will
get the chance to learn about the environment and if everyone will do their part to save the earth, the
earth would be a cleaner, healthier and better place to live in.

The Environment Club members went on an Eco Tour on 20 May 2011 to the Siloso Beach Resort,
where we learnt the interesting and innovative ways by which the resort management incorporate
eco facilities into the resort's architecture, activities, technology, and even food. We were introduced
to the design of the villas (where trees are being preserved while building the villas), the rooftop
garden, the herbs garden (where the gardening staff grow plants and herbs for the resort). We were
also briefed on the technology the resort use to reduce energy and waste and the application of the
3Rs in their cafe. Overall, it was a fruitful and educational trip where all of us learnt something new.

I was stunned when i first knew that the environment tour was held at a club. For a club to have an
environmental corner, it's really something great and touching because a club's main purpose is built
for entertainment, yet they walked the extra mile to enforce on environment issues in the club. I feel
that by doing so, they have shown how much they cared for the environment.
They had proven me wrong when I underestimated the beauty of Nature. I was never aware how of
useful, important and helpful recycled items can be.
They had created a really interesting atmosphere for the environmental corner, used bottles
and magazines to create beautiful, wonder and creative items, used one of the world famous movies,
Avatar, to show how useful recycled items can be,
26. and brought us back into the Kampung times where people rely 100% on these natural resources
and 0% on technology, unlike the current generation.
Through all these, I can now see how important it is to save our environment and also, I can now
see the art of recycling.
We, Nan Hua Environmental Club, shall pledge to save the Earth as One!
I learnt a lot in this ecotour today. The part I find most meaningful is the last part of the whole tour,
where the ' Kampung Chief' reminded us of how simple life was in the past no wastage, no harm
to the environment. Everything was given a second life and maybe even a third. There is more than
one purpose for almost everything to exist. People of the past are not greedy, they would treasure
what they have, and would not ask for more. This should be the kind of attitude everyone should
obtain. Then, the earth would not be in such a bad condition now.

On Thursday, we went to a place called Keppel Club Floating Wetland to learn more about our
environment and how we can take care of it. Inside, we learnt a lot of facts like how we humans
actually harm our environment every year. After watching a video clip, I felt very guilty about not
taking good care of the Earth and wasting resources. This trip made me realise how much Mother
Earth has suffered through the years and I will certainly do my part to save the Earth by following the
3 Rs : Reuse, Reduce and Recycle
