1. 2 Corinthians 12:1-2
I must go on boasting. Although there is
nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions
and revelations from the Lord. I know a
man in Christ who fourteen years ago was
caught up to the third heaven. Whether it
was in the body or out of the body I do not
know—God knows.

2. 2 Corinthians 12:3-4
And I know that this man—whether in the
body or apart from the body I do not know,
but God knows—was caught up to
paradise. He heard inexpressible things,
things that man is not permitted to tell.

3. 2 Corinthians 12:5-6
I will boast about a man like that, but I will
not boast about myself, except about my
weaknesses. Even if I should choose to
boast, I would not be a fool, because I
would be speaking the truth. But I refrain,
so no one will think more of me than is
warranted by what I do or say.

4. 2 Corinthians 12:7-8
To keep me from becoming conceited
because of these surpassingly great
revelations, there was given me a thorn in
the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment
me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to
take it away from me.

5. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient
for you, for My power is made perfect in
weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the
more gladly about my weaknesses, so that
Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why,
for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in
insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in
difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am
strong.

6. …reasons people do not
believe in miracles
include…UNANSWERED
prayers and the belief that
miracles go against SCIENCE
Apart from SCIENCE would have no way to
speak of MIRACLES
Science tell us what would happen without
an OUTSIDE INFLUENCE.
7. SCIENCE and MIRACLES
are not in conflict…
The ENIGMA of miracles is why THERE and
not HERE; otherwise expressed, ‘why not
me?’
The miracle was not withheld due to some
SHORTCOMING in Paul
8. The miracle was not
withheld because Paul
FAILED to ask for it in faith.
Faith for a miracle is no GUARANTEE of
experiencing the one for which we ask.
A miracle is one way to experience God’s
power, as is the grace to CARRY us through,
rather than DELIVER us from.
9. Paul delights in
weaknesses…not for what
they WERE, but for what
they DID…bring glory to
Christ.
Jesus is brought GREATER glory, not by
miraculously DELIVERING Paul from
weaknesses…but SUSTAINING Paul in them.

My Next Step Today is to:
( ) Do the home life help (in bulletin)
( ) Reflect on what God has taught me through
“unanswered” prayers
( ) Meditate on what it means to exist for the
glory of God.
( ) Think through why science and miracles do not
conflict with one another
( ) Accept how God chooses to answer my prayers
