I was very fortunate enough to have been invited to the launching of the newest facilities of the Center for Culinary Arts, one of the most prestigious culinary schools in the Philippines. Here's a slideshow to give you a tour around the newest facilities.
2. THE VENUE
The entrance of the
Center for Culinary Arts
located along Katipunan
Avenue in Quezon City.
3. REGISTRATION
Members of the staff of CCA at the CCA Add-Ons facility getting
ready to meet the attendees of the event.
4. THE COFFEE ACADEMY
First stop was the Coffee
Academy, a coffee training
facility created in
partnership with the William
Angliss Institute in Australia.
5. MY MORNING
FIX
Mr. Raoul Pineda, Program
Manager of the Coffee Academy
Philippines, graciously pulls me a
fine shot of espresso. As he was
doing that, he let me in the
details about the Coffee
Academy and their different
coffee training programs.
6. LATTE ART
Baristas from the Coffee Academy demonstrated two latte art
designs. This is just one of the skills that they teach in the different
coffee training programs that they offer. Click here to view the
video of their demonstration.
7. MORE THAN A SCHOOL
The interior of the Coffee Academy was made to look like a coffee
shop. Aside from taking classes, you can also book the place for
functions, meetings, and even team building activities.
8. THE CULINARY RESEARCH STUDIO
Next stop is the Culinary Research Studio where students get to
test their culinary creativity through projects like molecular
gastronomy, artisan food design and food styling.
9. THE CULINARY RESEARCH STUDIO
CCA students demonstrate their culinary talents by creating
different chocolate treats sprinkled and flavored with different kinds
of salt (yes, salt!) instead of sugar.
10. SUPER TASTER CHALLENGE
At the Culinary Research Studio, attendees of the launch were
challenged to test their taste buds at their Super Taster Challenge. I
decided to give this a try and won the challenge.
11. THE CCA GRAND KITCHEN
Upstairs was the CCA Grand Kitchen. This 200-square meter facility
is equipped with the latest kitchen equipment, everything the
students need to prepare them for their culinary career.
12. MASTER SUSHI
CHEF IN ACTION
While exploring the Grand
Kitchen, I chanced upon Sushi Chef
Andy Matsuda who was here in
Manila to do a series of seminars
for the CCA students. He showed
his sushi making skills as he
whipped up a simple maki dish in
less than a minute. Don’t believe
me? Watch the video here and see
for yourself!
