4. Important terms
• A “combination package” means a packages
intended for retail sale containing tow or more
individual packages, or individual pieces, of
dissimilar commodities. E.g. a package
containing dissimilar commodities such as
spoons, forks, cups etc

5. Drained Weight
• In relation to a solid commodity contained in
a free flowing liquid, means the weight of
such solid commodity after the liquid has
been drained for a period of two minutes

6. Group Package
• A package intended for retail sale containing
two or more individual packages or individual
pieces of similar but not identical
commodities e.g. biscuits or sponges

7. Multi piece package
• A package containing two or more individually
packaged or labeled pieces of the same
commodity of identical quantity, intended for
retail sale, 5 soap of 100 gm in a multi-peace
pack of 500 gm

8. Principal Display Panel
• A package means the total surface area of the
package where the information required
under the rules are to be given
• Rule specifies what should be the area, size,
and letterings including minimum height of
numerals and their width which should be
followed

9. Retail Package
• A package containing any commodity which is
produced, distributed, delivered, or stored for
sales through retail sales agencies or other
instrumentalities for consumption by an
individual or a group of individual

10. Wholesale Package
• Not intended for sale direct to a single
consumer
• Commodity sold to an intermediary in bulk
• Package containing ten or more than ten retail
packages

• Name& address of the manufacturer
• Common or generic name
• Net quantity in terms of the standard unit of
weight or measure
• The retail sale price
• Any other matters that may be specified by
the rules
