The director has many responsibilities they have to creatively translate the film's written script into a sequence of shots, images and sounds on screen. They are in charge of the camera work, parts of the editing, camera angles, lens and all the effects. The directors are also responsible for the production, design lighting and cinematography. The director has one of the most important jobs if not the most important. On top of what is expected of him or her, they also have to foresee and work closely with casting, editing and the producer when it comes to things such as marketing and finance. The director must also always be aware of the constraints of the film's budget and schedule.<br />When the director goes through a script or has finished writing a script he is responsible for putting his stamp on it, he or she must visualise and define the style and structure of the film, then act as both a storyteller and team leader to bring this vision to reality. The director has to develop a personal vision and construct how he is going to develop this. <br /> <br />Enable for the audience to distinguish between each director in the industry the director has to leave a distinctive mark on their creation. For example Steven Spielberg and Alfred Hitchcock both have a unique vision which they present in a way that no other director would.<br />The director will work with casting to ensure they choose the right actors for the part and make sure they are experienced enough to convey the emotions the directors need them to perform. The director also works with them in rehearsals to make sure they are performing to the best of their ability. This is essential because it gives the director a chance to make changes or necessary adjustments according to how each actor, actress performs. Directors often use storyboards to illustrate sequences and concepts.<br />Over all they are responsible for the tone it should have and what the audience should gain from the cinematic experience.<br />In summary directors interpret the script and make it into a film. This can involve planning locations, shots, pacing, acting styles and anything else which affects the feel of the movie they have to oversee the cinematography and technical aspects. Coaching actors and directing them towards the required performances and Coordinating staff on set, directing the shooting timetable and ensuring that deadlines are met.<br />A film director must have a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of film production, from acting to lens technology. It goes without saying that this is a senior position — if you want to be a director you will need to gain a lot of experience in other roles first.<br />Film directing is a vocation which, for most people, is more about creative achievement than financial reward. It is a difficult field to break into and the aspiring director should be prepared for a lot of hard work. <br />
