2. When are music videos consumed?
• Whens someone actively searches out a specific music
video through YouTube, Vimeo etc.
• Sometimes in public places such as bowling alleys &
restaurants they will play music videos on TV in the
background.
• On most TV channels that have music played, the music is
accompanied by the music video also to entertain the eyes
as well as the ears.
3. Where are music videos consumed?
• In people’s homes, with the music channel on (either
actively or passively) music videos commonly play
alongside the actual music.
• YouTube is now three times more popular for viewing music
videos than legal downloads, the home is the most
common place for this to occur.
• Clubs and bars often will play music videos to help set a
mood as well as to keep people entertained.
4. How are music videos consumed?
• Actively searching them out – Such as a YouTube search or
being told to search for something on purpose.
• Passively being introduced to them – Being shown it at
someone’s house, bowling alleys, bars/ clubs and TVs on in
the background of peoples homes.
5. • So, most of the time (even if people don’t realise it) they
are being introduced to and consuming music videos so it is
a very good area to get people noticed (especially new/
upcoming bands and will allow indie bands to gain more
followers and fans) music videos will often grab peoples
attention more than just the music itself as people use their
eyes more than their ears in normal day-today life. Ergo I
think this is a great area to develop alongside music.
