Euclid was a Greek mathematician from Alexandria, Egypt who lived around 300 BC. Known as the "Father of Geometry", he is best known for his mathematical work Elements, which is considered one of the most influential works in the history of mathematics. It covers plane and solid geometry and introduced logical reasoning and mathematical proofs still used in mathematics today. Euclid authored several other works on mathematics and optics, some of which have been lost to history.
