1. Ministry Teams Meeting Minutes: 9 June 2014
Ministry Team: Worship
Members Present: Stephanie Allen, Evelyn Judson, Carol Smith, Randy Smith
Agenda Items Discussed:
1. Discussed three service fall schedule that will resume on September 7.
8:00 - 8:40 Holy Eucharist - no music
9:00 - 9:50 Holy Eucharist with music
9:00 - 9:50 Adult Formation class
9:50 - 10:10 Fellowship time in the Lobby of Estill House
10:00 - 11:00 Adult Formation class(es)
10:00 - 11:00 Youth and Children Formation classes
11:15 - 12:20 Holy Eucharist with choir
12:20 Fellowship in Corlett Hall
There will be at least 4 intergenerational events from fall 2014 through fall of 2015. These events will be daytime events
and evening events. They will include a meal of some kind. A small sub-group of Vestry - Reilly, Fran and Pete - will be
scheduling these events and finding organizers. There was a concern about losing the sense of community with us being
spread across three services, so we would like to be intentional about creating opportunities for the entire community to
gather together, share a meal, and participate in some sort of activity.
Several things to note, there WILL be an additional Adult Formation class at 9:00 for the 8:00 service attendees, choir
members, Sunday School teachers, and any others who would like an education opportunity at that time.
We discussed several ideas for increased fellowship, including bringing a bag lunch once a month.
Discussed how we might tweak what we are currently doing, and an idea about offering the 5th Sunday of each month as
a Youth Sunday in which youth plan the liturgy. This needs further discussion and organization. No final decision made.
Question of how much whole wheat wafers might cost.
2. Discussion of 3 year goals and what worship team might do next.
Interested in opportunities to engage more people in worship - what are other ways to do this?
How could we use the visual space?
Could we have healing prayers during/after each service?
The idea that generated most discussion was the creation and use of liturgical art in the worship space for and by
members of the parish.
Step 1 of this plan would to host an art showing in the back hallway in the fall, and then have silent auction of any art the
artists would like to sell as a fundraiser for something like the Episcopal Farmworkers Ministry.
3. Feedback for summer service
Would be much simpler than the feed-back on three service schedule, but still a good thing to offer. Perhaps asking for
written comments on paper or electronically.
Next meeting:
Organize feedback for summer service schedule
Next steps in potential art show

4. Three Year Goals: Discussion centered on draft three-year goals, especially regarding what metrics should be gathered
and how to do so. It was agreed that attendance by youth at events was important to maintain, and also to know how
many youth in the parish are NOT attending as well. Metrics language was amended; other language of three-year goals
was slightly edited as well. Team is to vote on three-year goals in person or electronically by/on August 13, 2014, to
be implemented beginning September 2014.
