IT IS ABOUT A STRANGE ALMOST UNBELIEVABLE BUT TRUE PHENOMENON - AN EXTRAORDINARY ONE- TRANSFORMING ONE FORM INTO ANOTHER VERY DI FFERENT AND DISTINCT FROM PREVIOUS ONE

One of the Natures spectacular displays
startling phenomenon full of striking surprises
transforming growing and developing forms
in a variety of ways in a number of species
irreversible changes in organs and forms
virtually remodeling structure ,function, appearance
disclosing modification in behavior , styles & ways
appearing abruptly in some or gradually in others
generally proceeds in several stages
involving change in habit or habitat in many cases.
Regulated by gene expression , triggered by
environmental cues , directed by hormones
like juvenile hormone or Thyroxin or similar other ones
in various species
it proceeds in each in its own distinct style always
utilizing moulting , apoptosis ,or regeneration appropriately
as complete -holometaboly or incomplete - hemimetaboly
giving rise to one of the most wonderful happenings
the unbelievably true phenomenon of bio immortality
5. Jeev jagat
in jellyfishes by the extraordinary process of reverse development
the mature form (medusa) becoming young (polyp)once again
for which Turritopsis dohrnii–the ‘immortal one’ is well known .
In Butterflies it is of holometaboly variety
with larva pupa and fully formed butterfly
But Grasshoppers show only hemimetaboly
with immature nymphs and mature forms only .
In Fishes both bony and nonbony species showing
several stages, in some of them, repeatedly
Salmon and European eels indeed make us wonder
with their unique stages styles and ways really .
In Amphibians Frogs toads and Newts show ,very
remarkable change from tadpole to adulthood clearly .
In Molluscs a larva’s metamorphosis is a critical
point in life history but not a pleasant one for some
In Nudibanch gastropods in fact it is a sudden ,rapid
cataclysmic period of transition for them.
6. Jeev jagat
In Crustaceans metamorphosis is sex specific in some
taking differentpaths in hermaphrodites and dwarf males.
The examples can be multiplied of course
for Growth and development in normal course
proceeds via metamorphosis in many species of 17 phyla
from sponges to amphibia in kingdom animalia .
Metamorphosis as such is not known in higher animals
although regeneration of lost parts and moulting is
seen in some reptiles like lizards and snakes
and no doubt moulting is quite common in birds
In mammals including Man it is not heard of
Human history also does not make any mention there of
Although mythology is full of stories regarding gods
goddesses and devils performing miracles
assuming various forms themselves
or converting some man or woman to other forms
7. Jeev Jagat
Some rishi muni and rakshas could also perform such feats
as a rishi muni is said to have converted a king into snake
And Ravan had asked Mareech to become golden deer.
Indeed the story of Chavan Rishi becoming young again
makes one wonder whether he had learnt the secret
from jellyfishes of Turritopsis dohrnii or Moon jelly type
raising hope Man may be able to do so again.
