ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
• Associate degree or diploma in nursing
• Grade point average of 2.0 or higher
• Active nursing license required
• Earned the transferable equivalent of ENG 1510 Freshman Composition (If you have not completed
the equivalent of Freshman Composition, you must complete the course within six months of admission.)
• Ohio, California, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia
resident (check www.ohio.edu/bsnonline for most recent list; due to varying regulatory permissions, this program may not be
offered in every state)

Nine nursing courses (NRSE) will be completed online from Ohio University for 31 credit hours total.
All nursing courses are offered in 5-week sessions.

NURSING COURSES
To meet general education course requirements, you may choose courses from an approved list. Some general
education requirements may have been completed during your previous education. Coursework must be
completed in these areas:
GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES

Applied Science and Mathematics
Quantitative Skills
Cross-Cultural Perspectives
Fine Arts
Humanities and Literature
Natural Sciences
Social Sciences
A total of 120 credits with a 2.0 grade point average is required for graduation. Many of these hours you may
have already completed in your previous education, and they can be transferred to Ohio University; some will be
earned while taking nursing courses and support courses. After University admittance, a review of your previous
coursework will result in a DARS report (Degree Audit Reporting System), which illustrates what is needed to
complete your BSN.
SUPPORT COURSES
Credit for some support courses may be transferred from previous education. Many support courses are
available online from Ohio University. Course length varies from 5 weeks up to 14 weeks in length.
