1. Different Variant of Reiki - Celtic Reiki, Using Nature to draw energy
As you may be aware a practitioner when practising Reiki draws the energy for the
universe and it flows through their hands out to the person who is being healed. The
practitioner is simply a conduit of the energy and does not hold the energy within
them. Thus a practitioner draws the life force that is present and around to heal and
create balance in the person is to be healed. This is the core belief of Reiki.
Energy is all around us and some practitioners have refined the Reiki practice and
developed new variants of Reiki. One such variant is called Celtic Reiki
What is Celtic Reiki?
Recognising that nature is abundant with energy, Celtic Reiki recognises that energy
flows from the earth and particular plants. Celtic Reiki Practitioners realise that not
only is their a universal life force but that nature can provide an additional energy to
heal.
The idea comes from the early Celts who believed that trees were very important
and that tress had spirits. The Celts regarded tress so highly they based their writing
system on the patterns of trees. The Ogham, or the ancient writings, used symbols
that are cut as notches - these symbolise different trees. Each letter would represent
a different tree. Each tree was chosen for the qualities it had and the link it had to
the spirits.
The following trees were important to the Celts - birch, heather, silver fir, oak,
hawthorn, hazel, ash, honeysuckle , willow, grove, yew, ivy and elder. Symbols from
the Ogham are used by Practitioners of Celtic Reiki. This form of Reiki follows the
Celtic philosophy of bravery, honour, integrity, valour and reverence.
It should be noted that although Celtic Reiki is influenced from the Celtic Religion the
practice of Reiki is not religious - many people get confused with this point. As with
other forms of Reiki the aim is to heal the mind, body and spirit. Since it is not in
anyway connected with religion it can, like other forms of Reiki be passed down to all
regardless of beliefs.

developed it further. One of the differences between this form of Reiki and others is
that the energy is mainly received from the earth energy. Therefore energy flows
through the root Chakra and up rather than through the crown Chakra and down.
When a student achieves attunement the are open to the plant and tree energies,
the various Celtic symbols, hand placements, moon phases, and the various aspects
of soul journeying, retrieval, and realization.
