As one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the
world, UNICEF is widely known for its work helping children
from underserved countries, and now it is engaging
American children in global philanthropy through an
innovative program. Using wearable fitness trackers, the
UNICEF Kid Power program enables American
schoolchildren to help malnourished children while staying
healthy.

3.  Over 10,000 children in select schools throughout New York
City, Boston, and Dallas simply wear Kid Power Bands and
accumulate Power Points. The Power Points are converted
to funding through agency partners. The converted Power
Points are then used to support the distribution of ready-to-
use therapeutic food (RUTF) packets to malnourished
children.
Studies from a pilot program in Sacramento found that
children who participated in the program were 55 percent
more active than their peers, and just 900 children earned
enough points to distribute 473 RUTF packets. UNICEF will
