EDUCATION INDUSTRY
• Indian educational system is considered to be one of
the best in the world, however there is huge gap when
compared to the global standards in terms of people
being able to think independently and taking up
  entrepreneurship.
• The private education market in India is estimated to
be worth $40 billion in 2008 and will increase to $68
billion by 2012. However, India continues to face
challenges. Despite growing investment in education,
35% of the population is illiterate and only 15% of the
  students reach high school.
• India has world's third largest higher
secondary education system with a number of
institutions. More and more students are
going for higher education these days. The
result gets reflected on the number of
students enrolling for higher education. The
number of institutions is also increasing day
  by day.
Institution Qty (in no.)

• Central University 25
• State University 231
• Institutions established through State
 Legislation 5
• Deemed University 100

  any institute or establishment providing
commercial training or coaching for imparting
skill or knowledge or lessons or on any subject or
field other than the sports, with or without
issuance of a certificate and includes coaching or
tutorial classes but does not include pre-school
coaching and training centre or any institute or
establishment which issues any certificate or
diploma or degree or any educational
qualification recognized by Law for the time being
  in force.
Coaching Classes
• Market is highly fragmented and regional or
  localized in nature
• Private Tuitions targeted primarily at students
  in Grade 5 - 12 Coaching Class
• 25% Entrance Test Preparation Market
  targeted at: Graduate level (engineering,
medical, BBA etc) Post-graduation level (MBA,
  GMAT, GRE etc)
Coaching Classes

• Private tuitions market and entrance test prep
market Private tuitions makes up 75% of
coaching class market but has limited
potential to scale due to high dependence on
  reputed local teachers
• Entrance test prep market is growing as this
segment is process driven and easy to scale up
