Historical background
6. Significance in the past of this Temple
Two shrines within the temple complex, the
Nageshvara and Nageshvarasvami were commissioned
during the rule of Western Ganga Dynasty Kings
Western Ganga Dynasty King Nitimarga I also called
Ereganga Neetimarga ruled r. 843-870
and Ereyappa Nitimarga II also called Ereganga
Neetimarga II,ruled r. 907-921
7. INTERESTING FACTS
What I observed in this temple campus
I Saw Hero stones in Temple Campus
After Discussing with Local peoples I found that these Hero stones are found
after Excavation.
Ancient Scripts are written in Stone
Ancient Architecture as well as Modern Style Architecture
1 Small Sun temple is there where people worship sun
32. The Reason for less Footfall
My Findings
1) The Temple is not situated in the Prime Main Route.
2) The Bus connectivity from Bangalore City is very less frequent.
3) There is very less awareness in the People of the City about this
Ancient Heritage site.
4) The Distance is also quite far i.e. 17 km. from city.
5) Even if someone wants to visit this location then they have to change
at least 3-4 buses to get there.
6) People of the City have no knowledge about this site’s ancient script
and Hero Stones that is present there.
7) Peoples are also not aware that this site belongs to Historical Chola
Period.
33. This Site should be Highlighted among the City people
via Print Media, Electronic Media, Social Media,
magazines, Newspaper, that this sites belongs to
Historical Chola Dynasty
More than 1100 year old temple
In this temple campus ancient script is there in stone.
Different type of Hero stones are there in this campus
and tallest hero stones length is 2170 mm.
