Example Of Creation Stories
Every tribe, nation, or group of people has their own creation story. Many of the stories have similar elements, but each story has key
characteristics that make it unique. Numerous people are puzzled by the need for origin stories. The truth is that these stories are necessary,
because they give people answers to the many questions they have about the world and themselves. The stories also give people a perception of
cause and effect. For example, in the Navajo creation myth, adultery and other sinful acts caused many of the worlds to be destroyed by floods.
This cause and effect example portrays morality and its significance. Another similar aspect of thecreation myths is the prominence placed on a

Christians, however, believe differently. While the Christian origin story is similar to the Navajo's in that they both believe that nature is
beautiful, Christians do not believe that humans came from nature itself or by the help of nature. In these creation stories, God, the higher power,
created everything from darkness, a common theme among origin stories (The English Standard Version Bible, Genesis 1:2). Christians believe
that God created humans separately from the rest of nature, and that God set them above the plants and animals. This distinction was made to
give humans the role of protectors of nature. "Let [man] have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the
livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the Earth" (Genesis 1:26). Adam, the first man in the Christian
creation story, was tasked with naming and caring for all of the animals. On the contrary, the NŠ“ch'I Dine'Š“Ā© knew of their names before the
arrival of humans.
Additionally, humans can similarly trace their beginnings to nature. For the Navajo, the first man and woman were made from corn by the Holy
People. For Christians, Adam was made from the dust, and Eve, the first woman, was made from one of Adam's ribs. Both of these stories show
