  • 4. Shame: fueled by scorn. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say? "They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
  • 5. Shame: loosened through relationship. John 8:6 …But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.
  • 6. Shame: loosened through relationship. Exodus 31:18 When the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the Testimony, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.

  • 10. Shame: loosened through relationship. Daniel 5:25 "This is the inscription that was written: mene, mene, tekel, parsin…. 26 Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end. 27 Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.
  • 11. Shame: loosened through relationship. John 8:7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."
  • 12. Shame: you're not alone. John 8:8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
  • 13. Shame: you're not alone. Matthew 5:27 "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
  • 14. Shame: you're not alone. John 8:9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.
  • 15. Shame: transferred! John 8:10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they?"
  • 16. Shame: transferred! "Has no one condemned you?"
  • 17. Shame: transferred! John 8:11 "No one, sir," she said.
  • 18. Shame: transferred! John 8:11… "Then neither do I condemn you. Go now and leave your life of sin."
  • 19. Shame: transferred! Hebrews 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
  • 20. Shame: transferred! 1 Peter 2:6 For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
