Marketing Entrepreneurs [Part 1]
Have you heard the rags to riches stories of top online marketers? You would be in
awe if you knew where they came from and how they made it big. I'm going to share a
few stories of the co-founders of Empower Network and myself with you.
Rags To Riches Stories - David Wood
Dave Wood & Me
David Wood is one of the rags to riches stories that I truly admire. He tried for years to
succeed in network marketing. He used to go out and talk it up to people in Wal-
Mart. He would hand out cards and do home meetings where he was the only one in the
room. After a few years of that with no success, he and his wife moved to Hawaii. They
ended up living in a van and for a while Dave worked for Greenpeace earning
commissions from getting donations. Dave was let go from that job. Can you believe
that anyone can be let go from handing out cards? It's hard, isn't it?
One night when they were asleep in the van, a policeman knocked on the window and
woke them up. It is illegal to sleep in your car on the beach in Hawaii. Dave got a ticket
which used up the last $45 he had to his name. He knew he had to do something
different.
He borrowed money from his parents and brought a used laptop for $150.00 and went
back to work online. His desperation drove him to succeed and he did. He started
finally making money as a marketer. He moved himself and his wife to Costa Rica
because when you work online, it doesn't matter where you live. With a lower cost of
living they did pretty well but Dave wasn't satisfied.

2. Dave then had a group of other marketers go down to Costa Rica for a marketing
mastermind. When it was over his idea for Empower Network was formed. There were
a lot of things that he was having trouble figuring out though so he decided to find a
partner to do a Joint Venture with.

David Sharpe and Me
Dave Sharpe is another rags to riches stories. He was always around the wrong people,
mostly adults. He started to do the things they did and became an alcohol and drug
abuser. He had a daughter when he was very young but couldn't care for her with his
lifestyle and he knew it. When he hit his lowest point and realized that he was tired of
killing himself, he went to see his father whom he hadn't seen in over a year.
Dave was concerned about seeing him because he had let his Dad down so many times
before but he knocked on the door anyway because he needed help. His Dad said that
Dave could use the couch while he tried to turn his life around.
Dave was fortunate because when he felt he couldn't do it anymore he had someone
around that would encourage him to stay clean for one more day. It went on for days
and Dave got clean. He has been that way now for 5 years.

Dave and Dave got together and Dave Wood shared his idea for Empower Network with
Dave Sharpe (after Dave Sharpe signed a non-disclosure statement.) They brain

3. stormed together and went to work. They started doing the sales videos and website
videos before there was even a company. The website videos are gone now - they
changed them out two weeks ago. They hired technical people and did their launch with
some fellow marketers as the first customers on October 31, 2011. The launch did not go
well and they put things on hold until they got the website going. Then they went for it
again and the merchants account ended up being shut down. The bank couldn't handle
all the transactions that were coming in so fast. They shut it down again and asked
everyone to wait a bit. They finally found a bank that would handle the large amount of
transactions and they relaunched Empower Network in March of 2012.
Empower Network has grown to over 83,000 affiliates and had over $20,000,000.00 in
sales since it started. Dave and Dave get paid as an affiliate - they market just like all the
other affiliates in Empower Network. They actually help fund the company as the
company doesn't always have the funds it needs to survive. Together they have made
over $2M in affiliate commissions in the last 16 months.
Empower Network's headquarters is located in Florida. They have 50 full time
employees which includes, among others, customer service, lawyers, accountants and
computer programmers.
Two homeless men with no money in their pockets are now millionaires because they
had a dream and a vision for the future. Their vision was (and still is) to help newbie
marketers make money online and be able to live the lifestyle other online marketing
companies had been selling but few were actually living.
A highlight came a little over a month ago when a judge told Dave Sharpe (after 5 years
of being clean and sober) to take his daughter home where she belonged!! He is now the
dad he always wanted to be :)

While Empower Network is about money (having financial freedom) it is also about
lifting people up and helping them grow. They have done a fantastic job of it since they
got started. There are so many rags to riches stories in Empower Network that it would
take a long time to tell them all. There was a family that just filed bankruptcy who are
now multiple 6 figure earners, a marketer who couldn't do it anymore (the old way), got
depressed and quit. He joined Empower Network broke and is now a multiple 6 figure
earner. A couple of musicians who never made it big that decided to give it a try and are
now multiple 6 figure earners. I could go on and on.

4. When you stop to think about all the money that people have made in the last 16 months
(and remember it was closed for at least 3 months of that) it is mind blowing.
